Other Notes/Description: The XISD3 (Experimental Imperial Star Destroyer III, not to be confused with Imperial-class Star Destroyer Mark III) was created by an Imperial scientist, a Quarren named Tessek Hesh, with funding provided by the Empire. The project was created directly by Emperor Abotim Jokanah, at first an attempt to create time-traveling technology, to go into the future and bring back advanced weapons. It was equipped with an experimental prototype reactor, the I-a3cx. The I-a3cx was far smaller then the standard I-a2b reactor, but had a slightly greater output of power. It cost a far greater amount of credits, as well.
If the XISD3 was to travel to the future, it might find itself up against superior weapons technology. For this reason, much of the wasted room for passengers and crew was removed and converted into extra storage space for double the standard amount of starfighters. Much of the work of the crew was taken over by very expensive new automated systems, drastically cutting the crew size to a mere one-thousand. The extra hangar space was left empty, however, pending approval from the Emperor to fill it with TIE Hunters. The plan was, if Dr. Hesh succeeded in his experiments, the XISD3 would be loaded up with TIE Hunters and a full compliment of the elite Storm Commandos. Most hostile forces, Doctor Hesh and Emperor Jokanah theorized, could be outran, or be forced to go head-to-head with a giant swarm of Storm Commando-piloted TIE Hunters. Even with superior technology, it was likely they could still be defeated by a larger and elite force.
After several months of nothing, the Emperor became skeptical if the project had any chance of success, and he cut the funding nearly eighty percent. Dismayed, Hesh continued his work, but without the full disposal of the Empire's resources, he had to go to other sources. After nearly another year, and another ten percent cut in funding, he had a major breakthrough. He found that an ancient Sith Lord had attempted the same experiments, and had been partially successful. He had not traveled into the future, but into another Universe. Another 'Multi-verse' or 'Metaverse'. He had discovered several extremely powerful alien races in the middle of a war with a strange parasitical organism. He decided to stay out of their way, waiting until either side was victorious to attack them. After the advanced aliens had won, he prepared to attack, but a rival Sith Lord had stolen his research and pursued him. Presumably, they fought each other, and then communications abruptly ceased coming back to the first Sith's hideout.
After plundering said hideout, Hesh found the research. He was able to perfect the XISD3's 'Metaverse Drive', and installed an ancient--but, when combined with the reactive paint, effective-- cloaking device. His first thought was to go to the Emperor with the new technology, but remembered his lack of faith in the project and thought better of it. Instead, he decided to keep the XISD3 for himself.
Doctor Hesh created a computer virus and implanted it in all of Coruscant's major bank databases. The virus then skimmed a credit here, two credits there off of billions of accounts, and deposited all five billion credits into a single account. He used the money to bribe the entire crew of the XISD3 project into working for him, not the Empire. Those that refused were simply thrown out an airlock.
With his loyal new crew and unlimited credit supply, he begun modifying the XISD3 for its new mission: To go to this new Universe and explore. To learn. And to do it without the restraints imposed by the Empire. Hesh gave the XISD3 a coat of special black stealth paint that absorbed and deflected scanners, and made it difficult to see with the naked eye. He begun requisitioning a full new compliment of TIE Phantoms, as well as two TIE Defender squadrons. He did not install completely new weaponry, instead upgrading the already decent enough weapons that were already installed to be much more powerful.
And, after only two months, the XISD3, now called 'the Experiment', Doctor Hesh, and his entire crew departed to the Unknown Universe.
They begun exploring the new universe immediately, cataloging every new planet, new species, and new alien technology. They twice encountered hostile species, and had to defend themselves, trying to inflict minimal damage to the unknown species. The XISD3 was able to shrug off the fairly primitive alien weapons with ease. Doctor Hesh theorized that some galaxywide cataclysm had wiped out all species, and it was just beginning to recover. Far too many of the species were still unable to travel in space. They were, however, still able to travel between planets and star systems, thanks to an alien piece of technology called the Stargate.
Hesh researched the Stargates heavily, even going as far as to take one from an uninhabited planet and install it on the Experiment. He was led by a map built into the Stargate's dialing computer to a smaller galaxy orbiting the primary, and discovered a different sort of Stargate. It was the same technology, but with several more advancements. He took one of these new Stargates from an uninhabited planet in the small galaxy, replacing the first one on its original planet. With the information on the new Stargate's dialing computer, he located an outpost on a watery world close to the core of the small galaxy. The outpost had been built by the advanced alien races mentioned in the ancient Sith's reports. Hesh spent months reading from the outpost's database, learning all he could about the races and their technology. He used a large ship-building structure on the bottom of the ocean to upgrade the Experiment further, installing an alien cloaking device, upgrading the sublight engines, weapons, shields, and a wormhole drive, a near-instantaneous form of transportation used by the race known as the Alterans, based on the technology of the Stargate. He moved twelve of the Alteran 'Gateships', small stealth fighters that could fit through the Stargate on board.
After another month, he actually installed several new weapons on the XISD3. He installed several energy-beam weapons and a plasma torpedo weapon, created by the Forerunners, and two Alteran drone-launchers.
All the new technology was heavily taxing the I-a3cx reactor, so he made several adjustments to the ship, installing three of the extremely powerful Zero-Point-Modules created by the Alterans to power the new technology. The I-a3cx reactor was used to power only the original systems, like sublight engines and the original weapon systems.
The new Drive systems, despite being powered by three ZPMs, take a long time to charge between uses. At the most, the Metaverse Drive can be used once every twelve hours, and the Wormhole Drive can be used only twice in a row before a six-hour cooldown time.
The stealth systems installed on the XISD3 are extremely advanced and very effective. There are three primary modes.
Mode 1 - Running Mode: This is the least stealthy, relying only on the reactive paint to absorb or deflect sensors.
Mode 2 - Silent Mode: This is more stealthy then mode 1, but less stealthy then mode 3. This uses the upgraded stealth systems based off of the Sith cloaking device. The ship is partially visible, but the shields are able to run in this mode, as well as sublight engines. Firing weapons is possible without deactivating Silent Mode, but only in short controlled bursts.
Mode 3 - Stealth Mode: This is the most stealthy mode. The ship is completely invisible to sensors and scanners. The drawback is, the mode takes alot of power. Sublight engines and weapons are unable to be activated in this mode. Shields are active, but only at five percent power. Firing weapons, activating the sublight engines or powering shields will result in the dropping of the cloak.
